This is a fun and quick project that only takes a few hours and gives a beautiful result. You can make this project with the cotton yarn you like and you can even use some of your scrap yarns.

You’ll need:
– 50 grams of 2 ply/fingering cotton yarn
– 3 mm or D hook
– a steel ring with a diameter of 12 inches or 30 cm.
– a pair of scissors
– a tapestry needle

Notes:
The pattern is written is US terms

Terms used:
ch chain
sl st slip stitch
sc single crochet
dc double crochet
tc treble crochet

Start with a magic ring or ch 6 and sl st in the first ch to make a circle.

  • Round 1: Ch 6 (this counts as your first tc and a ch2), *tc in the circle, ch 2*. Repeat between the * 8 more times. Sl st in the 4th ch of the beginning ch 6. You have a total of 10 tc, including the ch 6 at the beginning of the round.
  • Round 2: Sl st in the next ch2-space. Ch 3, dc in the same ch2-space, ch2, *2 dc in the next ch2-space, ch 2*. Repeat between the * 8 more times. Sl st in the 3rd ch of the beginning ch 3.
  • Round 3: Sl st in the top of the dc, sl st in the next ch2-space. Ch 1, sc in the same space, ch 4, * sc in the next ch2-space, ch 4*. Repeat between the * until the end of the round. Sl st in the first sc of the round.
  • Round 4: 2 sl st in the first ch4-space, ch 1, sc in the same space, ch 5, *sc in the next ch4-space, ch 5*. Repeat between the * until the end of the round. Sl st in the first sc of the round.
  • Round 5: 3 sl st in the stitches of the first three chains from your ch5-space, so that your next round starts in the middle of the ch5-space. Ch 7, sl st in the first ch of that ch 7 to create a little circle. You can see a chart (1) of this little circle below. Ch 6, sc in the next ch5-space, * ch 6, sl st in the sc to create another little circle (see chart 2), ch 6 *. Repeat between the * until the end of the round. Sl st in the first ch of the round. You have made a total of 10 little circles.
1. 2.
  • Round 6: Sl st in the first little circle, ch 1, 2 sc in the circle, ch 3, 3 sc all in the same circle, 4 sc in the ch6-space, * 3 sc, ch 3, 3 sc in the next circle, 4 sc in the next ch6-space *. Repeat between the * until the end of the round. Sl st in the first ch of the round.
  • Round 7: Sl st in the first sc, sl st in the next sc, sl st in ch3-space, ch 4, skip the three sc in the little circle and move on to the 4 sc in the ch6-space, tc in the 2nd sc, tc in the 3rd sc, ch 4, * sc in the next ch3-space on top of the circle, ch 4, skip the 3 sc in the circle and tc in the 2nd and 3rd sc, ch 4 *. Repeat between the * until the end of the round, sl st in the first ch of the round.
  • Round 8: 2 sl st in the first ch4-space, ch 6, * sc in the next ch4-space, ch 5 *. Repeat between the * until the end of the round, sl st in the first ch of the round.

We are going to make the same circles as in round 5

  • Round 9: Repeat round 5.
  • Round 10: Repeat round 6.
  • Round 11: Repeat round 7.
  • Round 12: Repeat round 8.
  • Round 13: Sl st in the first ch5-space, ch 3, dc, ch 1, 2 dc all in the same ch5-space, ch 1. * 2 dc, ch 1, 2dc in the next ch5-space, ch 1 *. Repeat between the * until the end of the round. Sl st in the top of the ch 3 from the beginning of this round.
  • Round 14: Ch 4, skip the next dc and the ch 1, sc in the 3rd dc, ch 3. See the chart below to check the placing of the sc, * skip the next dc and the ch 1 and sc in the next dc, ch 3 *. Repeat between the * until the end of the round.

And now we are ready to measure whether our work fits in the ring. For this you place the ring flat on the table and place your work as centered as possible in the middle. You need about half an inch space between your work and the ring.

How we’re going to attach the work in the ring? It is pretty easy, let me explain.
Attach your work to the top of the ring with a sc. Pull the yarn a bit to make tight stitches. 5 sc in the first ch3-space and around the ring. * Sc in the sc and around the ring, 5 sc in the next ch3-space and around the ring *. Repeat between the * until the end of the round. Ch 5, sl st to make a loop in the first sc of the round.

Finish off and weave in your ends. You’re all done!! Enjoy your beautiful window hanger!

Happy crocheting!
