Notes
- This pattern is written in US terms.
- A chain 1 at the beginning of a row/round doesn’t count as a stitch
Pattern
First we make the band, use the smallest hook. Ch. 9
Row 1: sc in the second st from the hook and in every st across
Row 2: ch 1, turn your work, sc blo in every stitch across
Row 3- 58: repeat row 2.
Or repeat until your work fits perfectly around your head. Make sure you have 8 st each row.

Now we connect the beginning with the end of the band. Ch 1, sc both ends together.
Change to the larger hook.

We are going to work in rounds, so turn the band to its side and flip the right side out.
Round 1: sc in every st around the band. Sl st in the first sc of the round.

Round 2: ch 1, sc in every sc, don’t close the round but pull up a loop and remove the hook
Round 3: Insert hook into next sc (the first of the round) attach color 2 and ch 1. Spike stitch in every st around. Don’t close the round, pull up a loop and remove the hook.
Round 4: Reinsert the hook into the loop of color 1. Sc in the top of each spike stitch. Don’t close the round, pull up a loop and remove the hook.
Round 5: Reinsert the hook into the loop of color 2. Spike stitch in every sc around. Don’t close the round, pull up a loop and remove the hook.
Repeat rounds 4 and 5 until your work measures about 10 inches or 25 cm.

Finish off color 2. Weave in the end with the tapestry needle.
Sc for 1 round in every st around with color 1. Sl st in the first sc.
Bind off, leave a long enough tail (about 10 inches) to close the top. Turn your hat inside out.
Closing the top is a bit difficult to explain, therefore here is a drawing of the top of the hat to make it easier to understand (hopefully 😉).

Thread a tapestry needle with your tail and insert the needle under both loops of the stitch, create a star by picking up stitches (1-7) around the hat. Pull the yarn until you tightly closed the top.
Weave the yarn through the yarn a few more times. Fasten off and weave in your ends!
Turn your hat the right side out and your all done! Enjoy!
