A pattern of a trendy summer beach bag that can hold all your things. It is an easy pattern with 2 colors of yarn.

Yarn over, insert in the next stitch, pull up a loop, yarn over and pull through the first loop on the hook. Three loops on the hook. Yarn over, insert in the same stitch, pull up a loop, yarn over and pull through the first loop on the hook. Yarn over and pull through all 5 loops on the hook, ch 1.

  • This pattern is written in US terms.
  • The bag is crocheted from bottom to top.
  • Chain 1 at the beginning of the round doesn’t count as a stitch.

Pattern

The white color will be color A, if you use other colors then decide which color will be your color A en which color B.

If you use a leather bottom then follow these steps: Attach your color A in the corner of the leather bottom. Ch 1, sl st in every stitch around. Close with a sl st in the first sc. Don’t bind off and start with round 1.

If you want to crochet the bottom, then make a chain as long as the width of your jute bag. Ch 1 turn your work and make 1 sc in every stitch across. Ch 1 turn your work and sc in every stitch across. Repeat this until the bottom is the same size as the bottom of the jute bag. Don’t bind off and start with round 1.

Round 1: ch 1, 2 sc in every stitch. Every corner gets 3 sc. Repeat until the end and close with a sl st in the first sc. You need an even amount of stitches.

Round 2: ch 1, sc in every stitch around. Close with a sl st in the first sc.

Round 3: ch 1 sc in every stitch around. Close with a sl st in the first sc, pull through with color B instead of color A.

Round 4: ch 1, sc in the first stitch, ch 1, skip a stitch, sc in the next, ch 1, skip a stitch, sc in the next. Repeat until the end, close with a sl st in the first sc with color A.

Round 5: ch 2, skip the first stitch and sc in the stitch below the ch1sp. Ch 1, skip a stitch and sc in the next stitch below ch1sp. This is the moss stitch. Repeat until the end, sl st in the first sc to close the round.

Round 6: ch 1, sc in every stitch around. Close with a sl st in the first sc to close the round, pull through with color B.

Round 7: ch 1, raspberry in the next, sl st in the next, raspberry in the next, sl st in the next. Repeat until the end and close with a sl st in the first ch, pull through with color A.

Round 8: ch 1, sc on top of the first raspberry, sc in the ch 1 sp, ch on top of the next raspberry, sc in the ch1 sp.

Round 9: ch 1 sc in every stitch around. Close with a sl st in the first sc, pull through with color B instead of color A.

Round 10: ch 1, sc in the first stitch, ch 1, skip a stitch, sc in the next, ch 1, skip a stitch, sc in the next. Repeat until the end, close with a sl st in the first sc with color A.

Round 11: ch 2, skip the first stitch and sc in the stitch below the ch1sp. Ch 1, skip a stitch and sc in the next stitch below ch1sp. Repeat until the end, sl st in the first sc to close the round.

Round 12-14: repeat rounds 6-8

Round 15-17: ch 1, sc in every stitch around. Close with a sl st in the first sc to close the round.

Round 18: ch 1, sc in the first stitch, ch 1, skip a stitch, sc in the next, ch 1, skip a stitch, sc in the next. Repeat until the end, close with a sl st in the first sc with color A.

Round 19: ch 2, skip the first stitch and sc in the stitch below the ch1sp. Ch 1, skip a stitch and sc in the next stitch below ch1sp. Repeat until the end, sl st in the first sc to close the round.

Round 20-32: repeat rounds 12-16 two more times.

Round 32-34: ch 1, sc in every stitch around. Close with a sl st in the first sc to close the round, pull through with color B.

Round 35-63: repeat rounds 4-32

Round 64-66: ch 1, sc in every stitch around. Close with a sl st in the first sc to close the round, pull through with color B.

Round 67-74: repeat rounds 4-11

My work is the same height as the jute bag now. Measure your work every once and a while to check when your work covers the jute bag. If it does then bind off and weave in the ends.

Slide the jute bag into the bag you’ve just made. Sew the two bags together at the top.

Finish off and weave in your ends.

And we’re done. Put your things in the bag and go have some fun at the beach!
