House Socks

Hi guys! The sunny weather here is over so I thought it was time for a pair of nice warm house socks. You can make them in any size you want, they are warm and cozy, look nice and they are also very easy to make.

Materials
- 1 skein of a bulky yarn, 100 gram per skein, I used about 170 meters or 186 yards. This is enough for a shoe size 8/8,5 or 39/40, if you want to go bigger you probably need an extra skein. A suggestion for the yarn: https://www.lovecrafts.com/en-gb/p/stylecraft-life-chunky
- H/8 or 5 mm hook
- a stitch marker
- a pair of scissors
- a tapestry needle

- The rounds aren’t closed
Pattern
Start with a magic ring or ch 4 and sl st in the first ch to make a circle.
Round 1: Make 5 piket stitches in the ring, don’t close your rounds but keep working in spirals. Pull the tail end to close the ring. (5)
Round 2: make 2 piket stitches in each stitch, mark your first stitch with a stitch marker. (10)
Round 3: *piket stitch in the first stitch, 2 piket stitches in the next stitch*, repeat between the * until the end of the round. (15)
Round 4: * piket stitch in the first 2 stitches, 2 piket stitches in the next stitch *, repeat between the * until the end of the round. (20)
Round 5: piket stitch in each stitch until the end of the round. (20)
If the sock is too tight for you then you can make an extra round here, where you increase 5 stitches. You end up with 25 stitches instead of 20.
Round 6-11: repeat round 5
The toe and middle of our sock is done, we now move on to the heel.
Row 12-19: ch 1, turn your work, piket stitch in the next 15 stitches. If you have made an extra round after round 5 then you have to make 20 stitches here.
The whole foot of our sock is done, we only need to close the back of the heel but that will be our last step. We first make the upper part of the sock.
Fold your sock so that the first and last stitch of your row are on top of each other.
Sl st in your first piket stitch of the row to create a round.
We are now going to work at the top of the sock.
Round 20: Ch 1, make 10 piket stitches along the side, make a piket stitch in every stitch at the front of the sock and make 10 piket stitches along the other side (26). Eyeball where you want to place the stitches on the side so they are evenly spread. If you made more rows because your feet are bigger than mine, then your sides have more stitches as well. Just eyeball it and see what looks and fits best.
Repeat round 20 until you have reached the height you want.
Make 1 round of sc, sl st in the first sc to close the round.
Finish off and weave in your ends.
The last step is to close the back of the heel. Turn your sock inside out, attach your yarn to the bottom of the hole. We are closing the hole with slip stitches. Insert your hook in the first stitch and in the stitch straight across, sl st them together, repeat this until the back is closed. Finish off, and weave in the end.

All done, time to grab a cup of coffee and a book and enjoy!
